Discover Thoronet Abbey

The Abbey of Le Thoronet, part of the Cîteaux order, is one of the three Cistercian abbeys in Provence, along with those of Silvacane and Sénanque. It was built between 1160 and 1190 and completed in 1250. It is located in Le Thoronet in the Var department.
Considered a masterpiece in its own right, it was renovated in 1841 after the Revolution, more than 600 years after its construction.

Thanks to the simplicity and purity of its volumes, it was an example of contemporary architecture for generations of architects.
