The birth of the Vineyard

The estate is located in a little corner of paradise, in Rasque, in the commune of Taradeau, just a few kilometers from Draguignan. It was in this small village that Monique and Gérard Biancone, along with their five children, chose to settle.

Seduced by the exceptional potential of the Provencal countryside, the couple passionately embarked on a rather crazy project: to create a traditional vineyard in the heart of Provence, by creating Château Rasque from scratch.

The origin of the name comes from a certain Draguignan notary named Rasque, who owned the property in the 16th century.
The couple had long dreamed of acquiring a wine estate. Gérard, a mason by trade, has always had a builder's instinct, and his passion for wine comes from his mother.

Monique, from a family of Bordeaux winegrowers, couldn't resist the temptation to live life to the full in the heart of a vineyard.

Over the years, their children Pascale, Fabio, Sophie, Alexandra and the youngest, Enzo, have seen the first vines grow on this land. They could feel the effort and share with their parents the pleasure and reward of a fine harvest.

Le Château Rasque

wine tasting

First and foremost, 15 hectares of vines, planted on south-facing clay-limestone terroir, will shape the identity of Domaine Rasque.

Their dream is to produce authentic wines that express our Provencal terroir and their love of this land.
Today, Château Rasque covers 100 hectares of land, including 30 hectares of vines that produce wines using "agriculture raisonnée", an approach that respects the soil, the vines, the grapes and the wine.

The vines are harvested as in the past, by hand in small crates to protect their perfect quality.

If you miss the sea, Grimaud is less than 1 hour from Château de Rasque!

THE RASQUE DOMAIN IS A SUCCESS STORY

A few years later, during a walk at the foot of the Montagne Sainte Victoire, the couple fell under the spell of a 12-hectare property. Clos Jasmin, with its century-old vines producing mainly red wines.

Finally, in 2003, they acquired a neighboring estate, Hermitage de Saint Pons in Figanières, a 31-hectare vineyard planted mainly with Rolle, Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault, a few Carignan vines and 7 hectares of woodland.

Leisure activities in the vicinity

For Sophie Courtois-Biancone, head of Domaine Hermitage de Saint Pons, balance is everything. To achieve the fullest expression of this terroir, she has decided to pursue a policy of replanting and grape varieties that is both appropriate and controlled.

The estate is part of the last Alpine folds. It's a natural spur at an altitude of 260 m, with clay-limestone soil, ideal for growing vines.

WINEMAKING

Domaine Rasque uses traditional, gentle winemaking methods that accompany and respect the grapes, as well as modern equipment.
Hand-picked grapes, sorted in the vineyard, are brought to the reception area in small crates.

It is then conveyed to a tubular heat exchanger for cooling, a process that enables the grapes to be processed more efficiently.

These are then transferred to a press before being transferred to stainless steel vats, where alcoholic fermentation can finally begin.

All of the estate's vats are equipped with a refrigeration unit, ensuring constant control of the vinification process by maintaining an ideal temperature. Pneumatic presses and air-conditioning in the storage and bottling rooms are further guarantees of quality.

A 200m2 tuns room is located 8m underground. These 40-50 hl oak tuns are used to age the reds in the purest tradition.
