The steps involved in the creation of a fragrance will no longer hold any secrets for you!
Various activities are offered to put you in the shoes of a perfumer as well as temporary exhibitions.
We recommend that you combine your visit with its gardens, by visiting the MIP Garden in Mouans-Sartoux.

 

Discover the museum and the secrets of perfumery

The MIP retraces the history of perfumes, soaps, eye shadow and cosmetics. It opened in 1989 and was renovated in 2006.
The museum was built to honor the perfume industry, the cultural heritage of Grasse and its region.

Along the way, you will understand all the steps necessary to create a perfume. From the harvesting and processing of the raw materials to the finished product.

Discover 5,000 years of history through objects from all continents:
decorative elements, masterpieces or simple everyday objects.

International Perfumery Museum (MIP)

All year round, it is possible to be accompanied by a guide, for a complete visit of 1h30.
Ask at the reception desk for the schedule of guided tours.

The permanent collection

The MIP has more than 50,000 objects from 5 continents.
4 categories of objects are to be discovered dating from different eras and civilizations.
You will discover bottles from several cultures with the perfume organ of Jean Carles.
In addition to the posters, you will find the travel kit of Queen Marie-Antoinette.

Some beautiful pieces are present in the museum such as :

  • Egyptian ointment pot, Middle Kingdom
  • Murano crystal bottle from Venice - 17th century
  • Perfume bottle in the shape of a powder pear from Germany - 18th century
  • Bottle figurine in the shape of a young woman picking a bunch of grapes - 18th century.

  • Perfumes from the 19th century: Étoile de Napoléon de Paris, Leurs âmes and Jicky Guerlain

Visit the PIM gardens

The visit of the MIP is completed with the visit of its gardens in Mouans-Sartoux. Smell, touch and let yourself be seduced by the natural essences of the gardens.

Do not miss the fields of aromatic plants used in perfumery. You will discover the conservatory of Grasse plants where you will find May roses, jasmines, tuberose...

Several activities are organized for children and adults: birthdays, animations, initiation workshops and many others in perfumery!
Create your own perfumes! In a friendly environment, explore your talents with fun experiments!

Celebrate your birthday

For children from 6 years old, every Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from 2:30 to 4:30 pm.
The museum organizes special activities in a playful atmosphere:

  • Visit of the museum followed by a snack
  • Deodorant making workshop
  • Potpourri workshop
  • Eau de toilette workshop
  • Balloons, organic drinks, table service provided by the museum.
  • 2 free entries for parents.
  • Package: 65€ for 8 children, 7€ per additional child (maximum 12 children).
  • Reservation: Monday to Friday.

Private events at MIP

It is possible to rent the spaces to organize your private events at the museum. These are accompanied by a catering service on the spot, wifi and qualified personnel. You have the possibility to organize: workshop, incentive, breakfast, banquet, cocktail, gala evening...

- for adults with a TER ticket to Grasse or Mouans-Sartoux. ( dated the day of the visit or a ZOU card )

under 18, unemployed, disabled, ICOM, ARMIP and MAHP members valid for the day on presentation of ticket: 1st Sunday of each month (October - March)

Guided tour: 3€ in addition to the entrance fee.
MIP Annual Pass - FAMILY: 17 € for 2 adults and children under 18 years old.
Annual MIP Pass - INDIVIDUAL: 12 €.

- Full price ticket for the " Musée Bonnard " & "Musée International de la Parfumerie" (valid for 4 days for a visit to each museum): 10 €.

- Reduced rate for a combined "Musée Bonnard" & "Musée International de la Parfumerie" ticket (valid for 4 days for one visit to each museum): €7.5.

Workshops

Children's workshops:
During school vacations, every Friday morning from 10:30 to 12:00 and Thursday afternoon from 14:30 to 16:00.

Family workshops: Mondays during zone B school vacations, from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.
