Discover more than 1,600 shell reptiles, in the middle of nature.

Observe more than 50 species of turtles from all over the world, in a natural and preserved area!
Learn more about the tortoise of the Moors, so dear to the region.
During your playful journey, you will learn how to better protect the turtles, contribute to their conservation, and discover their mission. Children or adults, this village is dedicated to you! This conservation center is located 1 hour from Toulon.

On 2 hectares, come and explore the terrestrial and aquatic turtles. The course is entertaining with their educational spaces.

400 m2 of tropical greenhouse for land and water land and water turtles

In a tropical greenhouse of 400m2, you will see these animals in their terrestrial and aquatic environments.

TERRESTRIAL TURTLES

Approach the giant tortoises of the desert (C.sulcata); the biggest are between 60 and 80cm.

Admire the South American coal turtle (C.carbonaria) in a tropical area among frangipani, banana and rubber trees. It is a turtle with a black shell, hence the name "Charcoal".

AQUATIC TURTLES

Observe the incredible soft-shelled turtle and the Bornean batagur as if at the bottom of a river. The latter is a critically endangered species. In all, more than 50 species from all over the world are presented to you.

The sex of the newborns is determined by the temperature of the ground during incubation. Females hatch if the temperature reaches or exceeds 29°C, otherwise they are males.

Explore more than 3,000 unusual shell objects: sculptures by the artist Van apple, turtles of different and whimsical shapes and materials.

A veterinary pole, a care center for wild turtles

Attend the care given to the turtles: identification, injectable treatments, small surgeries...
A visit of this space is possible in winter.

These vertebrates are among the longest living.
The marine turtles live between 60 and 90 years.
The record is held by the giant land tortoise of Galapagos which can reach 150 years!

 

Our tips for visiting according to the seasons

Winter and summer, it is possible to see the turtles.

Summer period, from March to October:

The turtles come out of hibernation.
The park closes its doors 1 hour later: 10am to 6pm.

Our advice:
Come in the morning, the turtles are more active. At 10:30 am, there is the feeding (except on Wednesday)

Winter period, from November to February
:

Although the turtles hibernate, you can see them.
In an entertaining tour, you will discover different species:
- in the large greenhouse and outside: terrestrial turtles
- in the aquarium room : aquatic, tropical, exotic turtles and their conservation actions in France and in the world.
At this time, do not miss the meeting with the caretakers.

La Tortue Gourmande snack bar is open in July and August, every day.
A beautiful shaded terrace awaits you to enjoy the nature in summer.

Accessibility with a dog

Dogs are not allowed inside the Turtle Village, even on a leash. Free daycare is available in the veterinary center, just before entering the village.

Opening hours 

The Turtle Village is open all year round.
Think to plan between 1 and 2 hours to visit and enjoy the village.

The park is open every day:

- from March 15 to October 15:
open every day from 10:00 to 18:00

- from October 16 to March 14:
open every Saturday and Sunday, during school vacations
from 10:00 to 17:00

In case of severe weather (strong wind, heavy rain, hail ...), the park will close its doors to ensure the safety of its visitors.
