#3 Idea for outing > Circus at the Musée Léger in Biot.

This Sunday, February 6, the Musée National Fernand Léger presents an original event, YIN ZERO.
The Museum invites the MONAD company for the 1st time.
YIN ZERO is a juggling and dance show staged right in the heart of the Musée Léger!
For this show, Compagnie Monad will be producing unique costumes inspired by the works of Fernand Léger.
An original way to discover a new angle on the artist Léger.
For Fernand Léger, the big top was a wonderful world! And he would later become a fan of Cirque Medrano.
"Go to the circus. Nothing is as round as the circus (...)", Fernand Léger.

You are wondering what you are going to see?

Discover a juggling and dervish dance performance by two dancers.

You'll be taken into a modern trance, a hypnosis punctuated by the choreography of the two protagonists.
This juggling and dance duo presents a show where balls roll and bodies spin.
A poetic harmony emerges between Cyrille Humen's juggling, Van-Kim Tran's dervish dance, the music, and us, the audience.
It's a poetic, fascinating and festive show.

The Monad company was created in 2018 by Cyrille Humen and Van-Kim Tran.

A little side note about the dancer Van-Kim Tran?

A self-taught juggler, he trained as a stage performer at the Lomme circus school.
He practices contemporary dance, buto and dervish dance, notably with Carolyn CarlsonJean-Daniel Fricker and Ziya Azazi.
For several years, he has been studying tai chi at the Qíxíng Taìjí Tào Temple.
He wrote a contact and buto juggling solo "Solstice" in 2014. Until 2017, he was part of the Defracto company, with whom he wrote the show "Dystonie".

A little aside on the juggler Cyrille Humen?

A self-taught juggler and dancer, his juggling is physical and acrobatic.
In 2016, with Van-Kim, they organized and took part in a self-managed juggling training course with Faaac (Fabrique Alternative et Autogérée aux Arts et à la Création).
He is currently taking part in the 2019 creation of new circus company Acrojou (England).

For Fernand Léger, "The circus, a 'childhood dream' for painters".

As a child, Fernand Léger loved to see the circus troupes that passed through his Normandy hometown.
"The big top", he wrote in 1924, "is an absolutely marvelous world".
His various circus characters, fusing aestheticism and effort, offered him a multitude of motifs that would recur throughout his four decades of production.

In 1900, having settled in Paris, the artist Léger became a fan of the Médrano Circus. This place was the subject of many of his paintings.
