An exhibition of beauty and history
The Musée International de la Parfumerie (MIP) is hosting its new exhibition "La poudre de beauté et ses écrins" from 28 May to 3 October 2021. This exhibition, in partnership with the prestigious Bibliothèque Forney, reveals the collection and history of beauty powder. Discover how this make-up product has evolved by tracing the evolution of lifestyles from the belle époque, to the Roaring Twenties, to the post-war period. Lovers of history and beauty will be won over.
The "Beauty Powder and its Cases" exhibition
This exhibition was born thanks to the alliance of 2 institutions and a collection:
- Personal collection of Anne de Thoisy Dallem
- Forney Library in Paris
- International Perfumery Museum.
These three players worked together to present a unique exhibition on beauty powder.
Anne de Thoisy Dallem's personal collection of powder boxes, compacts and cases, comprising over 2,000 objects, was added to the exhibition.
The Musée International de la Parfumerie and the prestigious Forney Library in Paris completed the collection and provided historical explanations.
This exhibition echoes the previous ones, which took place in 2015 and 2016, both in the field of cosmetics.
The first dealt with the subject of "traditional body adornments from the four corners of the world".
The second dealt with "Perfumery from the Belle Époque to the Roaring Twenties".
The "La poudre de beauté et ses écrins" (Beauty powder and its jewel cases) exhibition is a natural complement to our discovery of the world of 20th-century cosmetics.
For just over 4 months, from May 28 to October 3, you can discover this rich and unique collection, presented to the public for the first time.
The exhibition will return to Paris for the winter of 2021-2022.
In addition to visiting the exhibition, take a look at the permanent collection of the MIP. Discover the world of perfume.
