The Old Village

Carcès spirals around its medieval castle.
The many houses with their glazed tile facades add a special charm and character.
These glazed tiles are a particular feature of the village.

They tend to face the east of the houses, to protect them from seepage caused by the sometimes violent storms.
They date from the 18th century. Some of them are still preserved and carefully maintained.
Their warm colors and geometric layout are typical of this village.

Other trompe-l'oeil facades tell the story of the past.

The lake of La Provence Verte

This 100 hectare stretch of water, on the outskirts of the village, fed by six rivers, brings peace and serenity to the landscape.
Here, it is the paradise of freshwater fishermen: carp, perch, pike-perch, bream, pike, and catfish...

The lake is an ideal place for swimming, windsurfing, paddling, canoeing and fishing.
The calm waters of the lake are surrounded by beautiful vegetation, providing a peaceful setting to relax and enjoy the outdoors.
You can rent equipment on site or take lessons to improve your skills.

The lake is also a great place to picnic with family and friends and enjoy the surrounding nature.

Viewpoint

Before the Brauch parking lot, turn left and climb up to the Rocher de Brauch viewpoint.
Here you can admire the sunset perched high above the lake.
The color variations are striking in our Provencal sky: from orange-pink to mauve to red.
