The glass factory is an eco-museum about glass and ceramics.
The ecomuseum presents the history of glassblowing and the works made by master glassmakers.
The glass factory organizes workshops. These workshops highlight the creation of glass in its entirety: the shape, the patterns, the colors.
Eloi Monod is the founder of this glass factory. In 1956, he created the bubbled glass, which is the signature of the glass factory's craft.

The Museum of History and Ceramics to do
The Biotoise Museum of History and Ceramics is part of the village's cultural heritage.
Thanks to this museum, you will know the past of the village.
The aim of the museum is to safeguard the heritage of the town. You will observe more than 2000 years of history linked to the village.

Follow the river Brague or its tributary, and take advantage of the hiking trails.
You have the choice between 3 hikes ranging from 4 to 11 kilometers long.
They are in the heart of the departmental park of the Brague between Biot and Valbonne.

Stroll through the historic center
In the heart of the old village, you will discover the historical center of Biot.
Take the opportunity to visit the church of Biot, classified as a historical monument in 1984. It is open all year round.
While walking, don't forget to read the street name signs. These will tell you what was happening in the street.
During the repopulation in 1470, the names of the noble families are given to the streets such as: the Berris street, the Ardisson street.
The name of the streets is also given according to the activities which are established there.

Saint Julien's Day
It is the whole village that meets to celebrate its patron saint during 4 days.
This patronal festival takes place at the end of August. Several activities are on the program: bowls contest, dances, Provencal aubade, coffee race, roumpa pignata, sack race, egg race, inflatable structure...
The harvest festival
This event takes place on a Sunday in September from 10am to 6pm.
During this festival, discover the communal vineyard, the Biotois grape variety, wine tasting...
On the program: Provençal mass and blessing of the grape, folk animations and Baletti, farandole, market...
It pays tribute to the economy of the country.
The Provencal markets
The tradition of the Provencal market and producers is a real institution in Biot.
It is the ideal opportunity to discover local products, specialties, folklore.

The Provencal Market takes place every Tuesday from 9am to 1pm. Several products are available.

The history of the city of glass
The city of Biot is the city of glass par excellence, specializing in crafts.
Traces testify to the occupation of the city of Biot since prehistoric times.
In the Middle Ages, in 1209, the Count of Provence donated the territory of Biot to the Knights of the Temple. At that time, the arcade square, the church and some houses made up the village.
After the enlargement of the territory of Biot, it is entrusted to the knights of Malta and to the bishop of Grass then to the Queen Jeanne de Provence.
During her reign, looters and the black plague exterminated the village.
Biot was abandoned in 1387 and the village became a den of brigands.
In 1470, King René persuaded several families from Italy to settle there.
Biot comes back to life.
From the 16th century, the pottery industry, especially the jar industry, increased.
These companies made Biot an important place for pottery production.
In the 20th century, art and crafts developed.
The artists Fernand Léger and Raymond Peynet and many others, who settled in Biot, contributed to its reputation.
In 1956, Eloi Monod created the Biot glass factory and bubbled glass.
Biot became the city of art crafts, the city of glass par excellence.
